You hear me from across the room
and figure you should approach perhaps.
You heard that I'm over bearing burdens
and feel that maybe now's the time to tap
the marrow that once ran hot within my bones.
it seems that no matter how fast
the pace,
or how goddamn hard you try to run,
there really aint no way
to outrun yourself,
there's never a winner in
this silly little race.
I try my best to avoid your face
as im clinging to the wall with only
a mirror for company.
but oh my, my, its in such awful taste
to from your own party look away,
look away.
you pin me to what might never,
you pin me to the end,
you pin me to deadlines and terror.
if it wernt for the broken glass
i may have never woken,
its greener, but i swear i hate the perfect grass
keeping me from the eyes i once posessed:
i used to be the holy ghost,
i used to be the only proposed toast.
it seems that no matter how fast
the pace,
or how goddamn hard you try to run,
there really aint no way
to outrun yourself,
theres never a winner to
this silly little race.
you pin me to what might never,
you pin me to the end,
you pin me to deadlines and terror.
but you've pinned me to forever
and you pin me to the only real red
ive ever seen,
the red you glow on nights
with madness burning on your skin,
red,
under my fingertips...
