That Hill

driving me up that hill like you did

to peer down at the city 

and the lights on its streets,

did you think we could be like the stars

and shine down?

shine bright like the stars 

and guide our own way-

somewhere through the night,

somehow into the day? 

driving me up that hill like you did

to take in the cold of the Earth
when its dark

did you know we would find our own heat?

find our heart's beat's 

beating our brains out,

and beating the life not out, 

but back in

to these never-love bodies? 

i say never-love 

cause ive been lovin you

like i aint never loved nobody!

keep drivin me up that hill like you do

just to peer down at the city-

we'll see what we've

been dying to see

looking through this fogged up

windshield we've made.

only a fogged up windshield is left
of our once so innocent eyes.
